The Church or Religious Ceremony
Whether it is a cathedral or a small stone church in the middle of nowhere, a religious ceremony can add both context and character to the joining of the loving couple. Most places of worship create magnificent backgrounds to the day and photographs.

There are many magnificent indoor locations which will make the perfect setting for your wedding ceremony. Whether performed by recognized clergy or one of the more esoteric orders, these ceremonies can be just as somber or as open and individual as the couple may wish. As writing your own vows and fashioning your own ceremony have become more popular, those for whom a church wedding is unnecessary, can create quite a unique ceremony.

This medieval wedding took place in a woodland setting under a roofed wooden building open on three sides, which protected everyone from the elements. At the front, a beautiful bower of wood covered with flowers was placed over the small altar. Besides the magnificent garments of the bride, the groom and their guests, the couple had simple yet beautifully designed rings which appear in the photo below.

This wedding was a traditional Greek Orthodox ceremony in the Serbian tradition. As you can see the rituals are very distinct from the typical Christian wedding ceremony. Its unique aspects are both moving and exquisite in form and context.
