The Cake Cutting Ceremony is the preeminent ritual of the reception and remains one of the classic photo shots. Due to the artistic beauty of the cake, and the formal, elegant clothing of the bride and groom, this photo is a primary shot for every wedding album.
This classic photo situation of the loving couple often becomes instead a moment of mirth. The cake piece to share, once in hand, encourages one or both of the couple to become playful with their food. This can be an unforgettable shot as bride or groom does something unsuspected to the other with the cake. Sometimes it is just the threat of the informal "caking" that will be captured for posterity, but it makes for a wonderful insight into the playfulness of the couple.
